Description

In 2008 Jenny Hodge invented a revolutionary method of transferring detailed photographic images and drawings onto clay utilizing the simple inkjet printer. It has now been recognised internationally as Hodge Inkjet Print on Clay. Join her as she takes you on a fascinating journey in this exciting workshop, where you will learn not only new Photoshop techniques but also how to transfer your favourite images onto clay. This interdisciplinary workshop is a must for all teachers interested in taking technology further, who have students who love working with computer imagery and who also enjoy the tactile qualities of clay.
Participants will explore and push the boundaries between flat and three-dimensional media, creatively scanning and placing multiple images onto rolled clay, which will finally be coloured, draped and formed. Jenny will also take you through the formation of an image using simple collage assemblage techniques utilizing newspapers, photographs and drawings, to tips on final firing and easy glazing of completed images. Your finished clay piece on the day will be a substantial artwork.
This adventurous workshop is suitable for Upper Primary and Secondary Art Teachers to take back to the classroom without the necessity of having prior knowledge of either technology or ceramics. Previews of Jenny’s work can be seen on her website: www.jennyhodge.com and a DVD on the method for teachers will be available for purchase on the day.
