Zart Art Portable Art & Classroom Programme

Hints and Tips

Here are some vital points to keep your art programme moving this year...

October Hints: Painting

The classroom teacher might have supplies of newsprint, cartridge, cover paper and other coloured paper. The trolley can have items on it like plastic buckets, sewing needles, fabric, thread, scissors, adhesives, paint, brushes etc.
Use paper plates, clean plastic fast food lids and containers or folded newspaper for glue or paint. Minimises time spent on clean up.
Use pan paints such as Poster Colours by Zart for minimal mess and wastage, yet achieving the results of a liquid paint. Storage is easy as they stack on top of each other. Keep the lid for each palette to store them wet without mess.
Brush Holders will store dry brushes - prolonging their life
Use soapy water to clean brushes in a bucket before storing flat to dry.
Paper Towelling or an old towel will mop off excess water from brushes before storing
At least two or three plastic buckets – one with clean water in it and the other for dirty water. Handy when cleaning up brushes etc.
Have a supply of newspaper or pre–cut up sheets of plastic to cover tables in the classroom.
Have sponges and paper towels readily available for cleaning up tables and spillage.
When mixing colours, start with the lighter colour and add the darker rather than the other way round.
Make up colour charts from students experimental work to keep as reference in the classroom.
