Materials

Transprint Inks

Polyester Fabric i.e. Poly Satin, Satin lining, Poly Cotton or Nylon Lycra

Bond Paper or Litho Paper

Palette

Brushes

Iron and Ironing board

Old cotton sheet

  1. Draw your design on a sheet of paper
  2. Pour a small amount of Transprint Inks into a palette
  3. Paint over your design with undiluted Transprint Inks. Some of the stronger colours will not show on your paper as true to shade. Set aside to dry.
  4. Set the iron to Polyester or Synthetic setting
  5. Lay your fabric on an ironing board or flat padded surface and place the painted design face down on the fabric. Cover with fabric or extra paper and iron up to 3 minutes or until image is transferred on to fabric (be careful not to burn it). The heat will transfer your image from the paper to the fabric.

Transprint Inks may also be painted on to sheets of paper as blocks of colour, allowed to dry and cut into shapes. These are laid as before on the fabric and transferred by ironing.

Try painting a design or pattern on paper and then placing any flat shapes on the fabric, place painted sheet on top with painted side down and iron as before.
