Landscape Dyes

Hot Water Dyes for – Wool, Silk, Nylon

(This includes – Wool- alpaca, Mohair, Rabbit, Feathers, Angora – all types of silk, Nylon- Lycra)

These are a hot water dyes-, which need to be brought up to the boil – the landscape dyes are all pre-mixed (this means no extra additives are required).

**Important Note**- tips about dyeing wool- Wool does not like – too much movement in the bath. It also does not like to go from hot to cold water** to ensure best results- allow wool to cool then rinse in the same water temperature. This will ensure the wool does not felt or shrink in the dyeing process**

Procion Dyes

Cold water dyes for cotton, silk  & rayon- (this includes hemp, linen, calico)

**Note- Does not dye polyester or poly cotton**

The Procion dyes do require extra additives- Common cooking salt (not iodised) & soda ash (sodium Carbonate) (This product can also be purchased from pool supply shops)

Dye Bath – requires Soda ash & salt

Hand Painting / cold pad batching – Painting Powder, Soda Ash (Manutex paste to thicken dyes –This will give more control when hand painting)

Quick Procion Recipe- (which always works)-* 5 grams (approx 1 teaspoon) dye per 1 (one) metre fabric or 100g dry fabric  - *60 grams salt (3 Tablespoons) per litre of water – *10 grams soda ash (2 teaspoons) per litre of water.

Pre dissolve all dry ingredients – dye, salt, soda ash in hot water – add to dye bath (cold water)

After 40 – 60 min take fabric out – Hot soapy wash until water runs clear.

This product is not opaque – which means not suitable for painting on dark fabrics – for dark fabrics refer to opaque base or inks

Texcraft Fabric Printing Inks

Ready to use – for screen printing on Natural fibres– this is not an opaque ink – to use on poly cotton, polyester or nylon add Fixer S (fixing agent) to get best results on these fibres.

To fix – heat fix with a dry iron or tumble dry  * Work must be dry *

Opaque base- Screen Printing base suitable for dark fabrics- NO colour-requires screen printing pigments to colour**Pigments- 30 ml standard colours to one litre of base 250ml white pigment to one litre of base Once inks are mixed they can be stored in an airtight container.
