The Grade 5/6 Integrated Studies Unit was Space.

Students started by drawing a sun design in their Art scrapbook. The guidelines were that it must be made up of geometric shapes and that all the lines must touch or intersect with each other.

Students attached a piece of Silk Pongee to an A4 black Pre-cut Mount with tape, then traced over their design on to the silk with a grey lead pencil. They went over this in gold metallic marker, ensuring that the lines were sufficiently thick and that they all touched each other properly (otherwise the Food Dye would run). With thin paint brushes, students painted in their design with diluted coloured Food Dye.
