Gallery Term 4 2005

Grade 4 level students made these trees in conjunction with their classroom theme of The Enviroment.

Materials:

strong white card

Paint

Newspapers

PVA glue

Coloured tissue paper

How To:

We began by discussing the textures of trees and how the bark feels.
Students were asked to cover a background (grass, sky) using oil pastels.
They made the tree trunk and branches by twisting pieces of newspaper into 'ropes'.
Several of these were glued side by side to create the tree trunk, then spread out the top end to create branches.
When this was dry they painted it brown
Students used coloured tissue paper, torn into small scraps or scrunched up, to decorate the tree with leaves, blossoms, fruit etc.
