How To:
- As a part of the year 7 Art curriculum, the students always complete a lino print.
- During term 2 this year, the topic we covered was Still-Life, inspired by the painting of Paul Cezanne.
- I like to keep the designs relatively easy, and focus on the techniques of carving and printing lino.
- The simple shapes of everyday objects that Cezanne painted were ideal.
- Oranges, apples and lemons were drawn whole or halved.
- A wine bottle, plate and wooden bowl were used to complement the arrangement.
- We manipulated the still life (propping objects up against each other, lifting the bowls at an angle.)
- Students viewed the still life from different angles, in order to create a variety of drawn compositions.
- The students' chose their own colours for their prints.
