How To: As a part of the year 7 Art curriculum, the students always complete a lino print. During term 2 this year, the topic we covered was Still-Life, inspired by the painting of Paul Cezanne. I like to keep the designs relatively easy, and focus on the techniques of carving and printing lino. The simple shapes of everyday objects that Cezanne painted were ideal. Oranges, apples and lemons were drawn whole or halved. A wine bottle, plate and wooden bowl were used to complement the arrangement. We manipulated the still life (propping objects up against each other, lifting the bowls at an angle.) Students viewed the still life from different angles, in order to create a variety of drawn compositions. The students' chose their own colours for their prints.
