Faces
How To: Level 4- Grades 5/6 As part of a unit of work looking at faces the children studied the works of Pablo Picasso particulary 'Weeping Woman'. We discussed the distorted and exaggerated features and the use of colour. The children were encouraged to experiment whilst drawing the outline in their visual diaries. When happy with their face they transferred their image onto white cartridge with grey lead. They outlined their face using a black Prockey marker. The children applied paint (Ocaldo block paints) to their artwork within the black lines. When dry the children re-outlined their work in black and added oil pastels highlights. Most children took three one-hour sessions to complete their work. Jenny Gilda Art Teacher
