Construction

Lesson 1

• Students draw, trace and cut out two identical letters from thin cardboard.
• Then cut a ruler width strip to place between letters and attach using masking tape

Lesson 2

• Papier Mache was used to carefully cover the whole letter

Lesson 3

• Students painted and decorated their letter, some chose to varnish the finished letter

Painting

Students had studied a variety of paint applications and colour combinations prior to this piece.

Lesson 1

• Concertina a length of paper, smooth it out flat and sponge on two colours
• Pour the same colours plus one other in swirls and patterns, then leave to dry.

Lesson 2

• Highlight the painting with small papers, translucent tissue, sequins etc.
• Concertina the paper along the original fold lines.
