The students were introduced to the structure of artworks by learning about and experimenting with the elements of the visual arts.
The students focused on the elements of 'Pattern' and 'Colour.'
They studied and observed varying patterns found on bodies and wings of a wide variety of 'Bugs'
A selected portion of the bug was then enlarged and transfered freehand to a sheet of cartridge paper.
Students were to choose non-representational colours and to use their knowledge of colour theory in their choice colours to affect and influence the appearance and mood of their image.
Portfolio Water soluble oil pastels were used to create the artwork.
