How To:

  • The students were introduced to the structure of artworks by learning about and experimenting with the elements of the visual arts.
  • The students focused on the elements of 'Pattern' and 'Colour.'
  • They studied and observed varying patterns found on bodies and wings of a wide variety of 'Bugs'
  • A selected portion of the bug was then enlarged and transfered freehand to a sheet of cartridge paper.
  • Students were to choose non-representational colours and to use their knowledge of colour theory in their choice colours to affect and influence the appearance and mood of their image.
  • Portfolio Water soluble oil pastels were used to create the artwork.
