How To:
The students studied Chinese Art works using different resources and references.
This activity took several weeks to complete as the strands of Performing Arts/Drama and Visual Arts were integrated.
Procedures
- The students looked at posters and pictures of dragons.
- Discussed basic shapes/symbols related to dragons.
- Drew in pencil in sketchbooks/planning stage
- Created a pencil outline on cartridge paper
- Selected one colour and mix tones of this colour
- Experimented with a brush and other drawing implements to create the features, textures and lines of the dragon's head utilising only one colour.
- Completed painting the inside of the dragon's head
- Cut out and mounted dragon's head on to paper. The paper had a background, created utilising rubbing plates with black pastel
- Stapled a piece of laminating film over the dragon's head and added detail using a black Prockey marker.
