How To:

Year 2

  • As part of the Term 1 topic 'The Sea' the students made a King Neptune sculpture. It took about 4 weeks to do.
  • First the students made paper mache fish and starfish.
  • A large piece of Tyvek and paper mask were sponged with green, blue and turquoise paint.
  • Scales were cut out using shimmer cellophane paper.
  • Scraps of fabric were ripped into strips. An old painting easel and broomstick were used as a frame.
  • A necklace and crown were made from the paper mache fish.
  • The ripped fabric was knotted to make 'seaweed' hair and clothes.
  • The scales were stuck onto the Tyvek robes.
  • A small container was used as a head to support the mask and hold the hair and crown.
  • More ripped fabric was used to disguise the easel legs.
