How To:
Year 6
- Being an Anglican school Religion (Ancient culture, Rome, Greece) and popular culture was incorporated.
- Recycled materials and Paper Mache are the main materials used to construct the goblets.
- 3 to 4 layers of Chromatemp paint was applied and finished with sponging to gain final result
- Zart Pearl Paint was used over the flat Chroamtemp paint to create depth in the paint quality.
- Decorate using buttons, glass nuggets, sequins or jewels.
Year 5
- This unit of work was generated from a cross curriculum between S.O.S.E and Art, Aboriginal studies.
- Students visited the Royal Botanical Gardens where they had the opportunity to experience the Aboriginal Resources Trail.
- Students also visited the National Gallery Of Victoria where they toured the Indigenous Art. They viewed a range of art from traditional to contemporary artworks.
- Students were excited by Emily Kngwarreye's work "Big Yam Dreaming," so the methods of Emily's were tried and students worked on a large scale.
- 2 projects were done, a series of 10 canvases 60 x 90cm and another of 6 canvases 60 x 90cm.
- Students had discussions of where Aboriginals traditionally would have sourced their paints from, what surfaces they painted on, what they used to paint with and how they progressed to today's ready made canvas.
- Discussion about the types of brushes used to create different lines.
- Background, middleground, foreground and overlapping were also discussed. Blending and how to create a graduation from one colour to another.
