Grades 4/5/6

Do lots of sketching using a spiral as the base for your drawings.

Choose the sketch you most like.

Tape and staple a square of netting onto a thick cardboard base.

Using a needle and thread, stitch a spiral.

Glue felt around the spiral to create your picture.

Add sequins, feathers, buttons etc. to add interest.

Make a frame using cartridge paper.

Check that it fits snug around your picture.

Stitch a running stitch or a pattern around your frame.

Glue the frame onto your picture.
