- Year 7 Art Students chose a native animal to base their lino design on.
- I supplied them with images and showed them different ways of drawing an animal .
- I worked with the ideas of shape building to help the students draw an effective design that captured their chosen animal.
- We then focused on the line design that was to surround the animal image.
- During this study we looked at aboriginal imagery and patterning and discussed the various way line was used and could be used.
- Students then drafted their drawing onto the lino using the grey lead transfer method.
- Once the design was on the lino they used permanent marker to ensure the image stayed during the cutting weeks but in general students enjoyed this process.
- After this course it was time for the exciting part, the print test runs.
- Students then created collages that explored shape to further extend their design element study.
- Once completed they printed over them to create interesting layered effects.
