Asian Studies

In 2008, students investigated Asian culture as part of their P-6 Inquiry unit.

The question “Who Are Our Asian Neighbours?” formed the basis for all the creating in the Visual Arts unit and much of the classroom learning.

The Visual Arts program explored a wide range of skills and techniques, relating all art pieces to an Asian theme.

Students from Levels Prep to 6 created mask and doll making, clay sculpture, origami paper folding, kite making, manga and pokemon cartooning, paper collage, scratch drawings and painting.

Props and decorations to enhance the exhibition were made during lunchtime art club and included a 5 metre Chinese dragon, firecrackers, calligraphy banners, origami crane mobiles, paper lanterns and fan folded butterflies.
