Monoprints

How To:

Level 4

A unit on 'Change' began by reading 'Death of a Wombat' with illustrations and art by Clifton Pugh. We discussed Pugh's style of work, shapes and colours he used. The students made mono prints using similar colours to depict a bush fire background. When this was dry black and white oil pastel marks were added to give detail of burning trees. Finally the students made twisted shapes using cane and wrapped parts with black tissue. These cane sculptures represented the burnt carcasses of animals while giving further dimension to their work.

The final results show unified art works which convey the destruction of a bush fire and the change it can make to an environment.
