Style Study: Abstract Art

Artist study: Wassily Kandinsky

Starting point: Integrated Curriculum unit "Micro-organisms"

Media: Mixed

 Process:

1.     Students drew an irregular shape

2.     Filled the shape with tissue paper

3.     Painted a food dye border

4.     Stippled the remainder with paint

5.     Drew another oil pastel border

6.     Glued smaller cover paper shapes on

7.     More oil pastel borders using cool and warm colour combinations

8.     Metallic oil pastel shapes

9.     Black oil pastel highlights

A lengthy process, but the children are pleased with the results!
