Lesson 1 - Pattern & Line
- Used Kate Hart's text and individual ideas for a reference piece
- Materials used were A3 cartridge folded into eighths, 2B grey leads and scrap paper for experimentation
Lesson 2 - Monsters
- Practice drawing the eye. Include the pupil, iris, eyelashes and lids
- Draw a 'closed swiggle' around the eye for a head
- At a distance draw a larger 'closed squiggle' for a body
- Join with a neck
- Study placement and movement of legs on both sides of body
- Add legs and other features
- Encourage many quick drawing placing head and neck in different positions
- Materials used were white boards and markers or scrap paper
Lessons 3 & 4 - Monsters
- Draw a monster on a A3 cartridge in grey lead
- Outline in black fineliner, omitting some lines eg. neck joins
- Using new ideas and personal refernce chart, fill in with patterns
- Stress that fine details eg. spikes and toes will be difficult to cut out
- Materials used were A3 cartridge, 2B grey leads and black fine liners
Lessons 5 & 6 - Cityscapes
- Discuss paintings, photos and local views of the city
- Create a rough outline featuring overlapping of buildings, signage
- Using a large cartridge sheet, rule using a black fine liner to create a cityscape
- Use rulers or freehand for smaller details eg. windows, signs
Lessons 7 & 8
- Photocopy monsters on to Photocopier Acetate. Ruduce and enlarge some designs
- Distribute various sized and opposite facing photocopies of original monsters for children to cut out
- Place monsters on cityscape. Tails, heads, legs etc, may be cut off and repositioned or placed behind a building
- Glue on
- Children may wish to staple photocopied transparency on to a background paper as another art work
