Spinning Top

Suitable for:

Materials:

Pasteboard, Defraction Paper, Metallic Ripple Paper, Black Cover Paper, Sequins in a Jar - Stars, Sequins in a Jar - Diamonds, Shimmer Paint, Glitter Pom Pom, Cardboard Cone, Tinsel Stem, Hot Melt Glue Gun & a Wooden Bead.

How to Make a Spinning Top:

  1. Cut a circle out of Pasteboard approximately
    17 cm in diameter.
  2. Cover both sides of the circle with Defraction Paper and/or Metallic Ripple Paper. The bottom side might just be black paper.
  3. Decorate one side with Sequins which becomes the top side of the spinning top.
  4. Paint a Cardboard Cone with Shimmer Paint and when dry, decorate with Sequins, a Glitter Pom Pom and a Tinsel Stem spiraling down from the top to the cone.
  5. Glue the cone in the centre of the decorated cardboard circle using a Hot Melt Glue Gun.
  6. Turn the top upside down and glue a Wooden Bead over the mid point of the circle.
    When dry see how long the top will spin for. Look at the patterns it makes as it spins.
