Suitable for:

Primary levels

Materials:

Poly Body on Stand, Cane, Metallic Tissue Paper, Metallic Yarn, Metallic Wire Cord, Glitter Pom Poms 18mm, Arbee Craft Glue, PVA & Masking Tape

How to Make a Tissue Paper Dragonfly:

1. Cover a Poly Body with Metallic Tissue Paper, using watered down PVA to glue the paper to the form.

2. Wet lengths of Cane in water for 5 minutes and when dry create four wings (two separate pairs). Use Masking Tape to bind the cane to form the wing shapes.

3. Cover the wings with Metallic Tissue Paper and then bind the two pairs of wings together with Metallic Yarn.

4. Wind Metallic Yarn around the body of the dragonfly, including the head. Use a combination of colours to make the insect more colourful.

5. Glue on two Pom Poms for eyes.

6. Use Metallic Wire Cord to create legs and antennas.

7. Glue Metallic Yarn in swirls across each wing.

8. Use a Hot Melt Glue Gun to attach the wings on to the top of the dragonfly body.
